Paragon Floral Teapot c.1937
SORRY SOLD OUT
A beautiful vintage floral bone china teapot. c.1937
" By Appointment A Perpetual Souvenir In Paragon China To Commemorate The Coronation of Their Majesties King George VI & Queen Elizabeth. Crowned Westminster Abbey May 12 1937. Registered & Copyright. Made in England."
The floral pattern on a cream background is of a pink Tudor rose for England, a blue thistle for Scotland, a yellow daffodil for Wales and green shamrock for Northern Ireland. A green & yellow leaf border runs along the rim.
A round bodied teapot with a gold gilded band around the base. The flower pattern has a gold band below. The gold band above the pattern has a border of green & yellow leaves.
The gold gilded wavy rim also has the green & yellow leaf pattern and this is repeated on the rim of the lid. The rim is very wide making it easy to clean inside the teapot.
The finial is an embossed rose shape with a gold leaf design at its base. There is a lip on the side of the lid to keep it securely in place whilst pouring.
The lovely shaped handle is fixed at two points at the top onto an embossed acanthus leaf and one point at the base making it well balanced and sturdy.
Both the handle and spout are elaborately gilded.
There are straining holes in the spout for use with both loose tea and tea bags.
