A beautiful finely hand painted - polychrome - wide border of roses and wild flowers on a chocolate coloured background with an inner broad gold band and a central rose motif. Gold gilded rims. Made for Stonier & Co., Liverpool. Reg. No. 553455 c.1909. Retailers to The White Star Line for The Titanic. Back stamped: SPODE COPELAND'S CHINA ENGLAND with the STONIER & Co., Liverpool mark. Antique Spode's Luncheon Plates made by W.T. Copeland & Sons Ltd., Spode Works, Stoke, Staffordshire, England. c.1909. NO chips, cracks, crazing nor utensil marks. Some light scratches on the gold gilding which is to be expected as 22Kt gold was used which is a soft metal. In excellent condition.
